Difurfuryl disulphide is an organic compound that can be synthesized by a number of methods. It is used as an analytical reagent for the detection of butyric acid, oxidation products and reaction products. Difurfuryl disulphide has been found to be a useful model system for studying the effects of nadph-cytochrome P450 reductase on the oxidation of fatty acids. Difurfuryl disulphide is also used as a vitamin B1 analog in crystalline form. The reduction of difurfuryl disulfide with maltol results in the formation of furfuryl acetate, which can be detected using optical microscopy.END>
