2,6-Dichlorobenzene-1-carbothioamide is a nutrient solution that is used as an inhibitor of cytochrome P450 activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of plants and microorganisms in ecological studies. 2,6-Dichlorobenzene-1-carbothioamide is not toxic to rats when administered orally in high doses. This compound inhibits the metabolism of triticum aestivum (wheat) by inhibiting the enzymes that catalyze ether linkages. It also inhibits linear model reactions with ethylene diamine as a substrate. The reaction products are active enzymes.
