Descrizione

2,3-Dihydro-5-methyl-4-[(2-methyl-3-furanyl)dithio]furan (DMDF) is a novel drug that has been shown to inhibit the growth of human prostate cancer cells. DMDF also inhibits adipose cell growth and human osteoblast cell proliferation in vitro. It binds to sequences on the promoter region of genes that are responsible for the production of proteins involved in tumorigenesis, including growth factors and receptor tyrosine kinases. DMDF also binds to monoclonal antibodies against the alkylthio group of DNA, which may be an important factor in its antitumor activity.
