The compound N,N-dimethylglycine methyl ester is a dihedral replication inhibitor that binds to the gyrase subunit of bacterial DNA gyrase. It inhibits the ATP-dependent DNA or RNA synthesis by binding to the enzyme and causing it to undergo hydrolysis. This process prevents the formation of dsDNA and subsequent replication. N,N-dimethylglycine methyl ester has shown anti-inflammatory effects in inflammatory diseases such as asthma and arthritis.
