2-Dimethylaminomethyl-aniline is a mononuclear ligand that has been used in the crystallography of inorganic compounds. This compound was first synthesized by the reaction of aniline with methylamine and trimethyltin chloride. 2-Dimethylaminomethyl-aniline is soluble in organic solvents, but insoluble in water.
2-Dimethylaminomethyl-aniline has been shown to be a good ligand for metal ions such as germanium, amide, amido, and chloride. This compound can be used to form complexes with metal ions through the coordination process. Techniques that have been used to characterize this compound include diffraction techniques and functional theory.
