6-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-2h-isoindol-2-yl)hexanoic acid (DODIA) is a magnetic nanoparticle that binds to the M1 receptor in skin cells. It has been shown that DODIA can be used as a stimulator and allosteric modulator of the M1 receptor. This compound also has the potential to be an effective therapeutic for dry skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis, due to its ability to stimulate collagen production and inhibit IL-4 production and proliferation of T cells. DODIA displays centrosymmetric properties and is fluorescent.
