Diantimony trioxide (DTO) is a cationic surfactant used for the production of zirconium oxide. The DTO particle is composed of anhydrous sodium hydroxide and dianthonium chloride, which are mixed in a ratio of 1:1. It is used as a precursor to produce zirconium oxide by reacting with water. DTO has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of zirconium dioxide, which has high thermal and electrical conductivity. DTO also exhibits redox cycle behaviour when in contact with hydrochloric acid. This property makes it possible to use DTO as a catalyst for oxidation reactions, such as the conversion of methane to methanol.
