1,3-Di-9-carbazolylbenzene (purified by sublimation) is a fluorescent dye that is used to measure the emission of light. It has been shown to be efficient at emitting light in the visible range and also exhibits a high quantum efficiency. The 1,3-di-9-carbazolylbenzene molecule is ancillary to the reaction with suzuki coupling, which is used for organic synthesis. The optical properties of this compound are due to excitons and fluorescence. Excitons are pairs of electrons and holes that form when an electron falls from a higher energy level to a lower energy level in the same molecule. Fluorescent light is emitted when an electron falls from a higher energy level to a lower energy level in another molecule. This process, called phosphorescence, requires less energy than fluorescence and occurs slowly after excitation ceases. 1,3-Di-9-carbazolylbenz
