- L-2,3-Diaminopropionic acid
H-Dap-OH·HBr is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth and plays a role in the synthesis of amino acids. It binds to the siderophores in the cell membrane, preventing uptake of iron from outside sources. H-Dap-OH·HBr also inhibits ornithine decarboxylase and arginine deaminase, enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of polyamines, which are important for bacterial growth.
