2-(Dimethylamino-Fluorophosphoryl)-N,N-Dimethylethanamine is a nucleophile that can react with an electrophile to form a covalent bond. It has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the hydrolysis of secondary and tertiary amides. 2-(Dimethylamino-Fluorophosphoryl)-N,N-Dimethylethanamine is also used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It reacts with hydroxylamine to produce the corresponding carbonyl compound with elimination of water. This reaction is catalyzed by acid or base. The molecule exists as two conformers: one planar and one pyramidal. The planar conformer has a more kinetically favorable transition state because it requires less activation energy for rotation about its single bond.
