Forskolin is a natural product that has been shown to inhibit the activity of lipoxygenases and thus may be used as a drug for treatment of cardiovascular disease. Forskolin is able to inhibit the uptake of acetylsalicylic acid, tissue plasminogen activator, and tissue plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 by cells in a model system. Forskolin also increases the concentration of albumin in the blood and enhances the activity of dibutyryl camp on pancreatic cells. Forskolin is found in plants such as solanum tuberosum (potato) and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
