2-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-3-Methylsulfonyl-1-(1,2,4-Triazol-1-Yl)Butan-2-Ol is a covalent linkages that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane. This leads to leakage of cellular contents and cell death. It has been shown to have good in vitro antifungal activity against Candida glabrata, but not against other Candida species. 2-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-3-Methylsulfonyl-1-(1,2,4-Triazol-1-Yl)Butan-2-Ol may be associated with drug interactions and an increased risk for opportunistic fungal infections when used in combination with amphotericin B.
