2-Ethyl-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid is a chemical compound that can be obtained by the Wittig reaction. This chemical has the molecular formula of C5H6O2 and a molecular weight of 108.09 g/mol. It has a melting point of 43 °C and a boiling point of 311 °C. It has an empirical formula of CHOS and a structural formula of CHOS. 2-Ethyl-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid was isolated from cystothiazole in 1957. The structure was determined to be (2E,4E)-2-(ethylamino)cyclohexanone with the stereochemistry (S). The compound is also known as phosphonium salt or palladium catalysed methylation product.
