Etofamide is a drug that belongs to the group of amoebicidal drugs. It is used for the treatment of amoebiasis, which is an infection caused by Entamoeba histolytica. Etofamide has been shown to be effective in treating amoebiasis and other infectious diseases. It has been demonstrated to be clinically effective against amoebiasis, with a clinical response rate of 80%. The mode of action of etofamide is not known. However, it may bind to fatty acids or other lipids in the cytoplasmic membrane and cause changes in permeability. Etofamide also binds specifically to receptors on inflammatory cells and stimulates their activity, leading to a decrease in inflammation.
