(TranS,tranS)-4'-ethyl-[1,1'-bicyclohexyl]-4-carboxylicacid is a liquid crystal composed of pyridine and benzene rings. It has a viscosity of 0.5 - 3 cP at 25°C and anisotropy. This compound has been shown to have optical activity (specific rotation +3.00°) in methanol solution. The structure of this compound is similar to that of cyclohexane and cyclohexanecarboxylic acid, but it differs from the latter by having a carboxylic acid group instead of hydroxyl group. TranS, tranS-4'-ethyl-[1,1'-bicyclohexyl]-4-carboxylicacid is soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. This compound can be found as an element or as an ion (Cl-) in nature or as
