1-Ethynyl-4-methoxy-2-methylbenzene (EMMB) is a chemical compound that has been shown to yield two different types of carbonaceous materials. EMMB can be used as an additive to plastics or other materials in order to protect them from the effects of ultraviolet radiation, such as oxidation and photodegradation.
