Ethanesulfonic acid sodium salt is a crystalline compound that belongs to the organic solvent group. It has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. Ethanesulfonic acid sodium salt is a structural analog of glutathione, which is an important cellular antioxidant. It has been shown to be effective against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease. This compound also inhibits protein synthesis in cells and produces structural changes in epithelial cells. These structural changes have been observed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and are characterized by increased numbers of vacuoles, mitochondria, and other organelles. The crystal structure of ethanesulfonic acid sodium salt has also been determined using X-ray crystallography. This substance is most commonly used as a high yield liquid chromatography stationary phase for the separation of proteins.
