3-Ethyl-2-pentene is a monomer that is a radical chain. It can be used for the production of polymers for different applications, such as coatings and adhesives. 3-Ethyl-2-pentene has been shown to form epoxides through the reaction with ethylene oxide and epoxide hydrolase. These reactions are catalyzed by rat liver microsomes and can produce epoxide products that have been used in imprinting and overlayers. This product can also be chlorinated to produce chlorinated reaction products, which are used in the production of polymers.
