Ethyl methanesulphonylacetate is a chemical compound that is used to synthesize other compounds. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria and also exhibits cytotoxicity against different types of cells in animals. Ethyl methanesulphonylacetate may be used as an alternative treatment for cardiovascular disorders, such as atherosclerosis, because it can inhibit the oxidation of low density lipoproteins. Ethyl methanesulphonylacetate is an electron-withdrawing agent that can bind to amines, which can lead to the formation of active methylene compounds and acyldonor or pyrazole derivatives.
