Ethyl Eosin is a cationic surfactant with a light-emitting property. It is used as an implantable material and polymerization initiator in the manufacture of polymeric matrices for diagnostic agents, such as cresyl violet acetate, chondroitin sulfate, and corneal surface particles. Ethyl Eosin can be used to treat chemotherapeutic treatments by attaching to human serum proteins and forming complexes that are able to penetrate tumor cells. The reaction mechanism of Ethyl Eosin is not fully understood, but it may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules.
