2-Ethyl-4-methyl-1H-imidazole-1-propanenitrile is a nonpolar organic compound that has been shown to be a good thermoelectric material. It is also a surfactant, and can be used as an additive in detergents or other cleaning agents to increase the surface tension of water. 2EMIPN is stable in water at high temperatures, and its structure changes only slightly when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The molecule has a hydrophilic head that is similar to triazine, which reacts with cyanates to form epoxides. The molecule also absorbs thermal energy from the environment and converts it into electricity.
