Escholamine iodide is a drug that interacts with the enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase. This enzyme is involved in the metabolism of amino acids, and its inhibition by escholamine iodide leads to a decrease in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as glutamate, aspartate, and glycine.
