Descrizione

Erbium trifluoromethanesulfonate is a carbonyl compound that can be used as a specific treatment for epoxides. It reacts with epoxides to form reaction products, which are hydrolyzed to produce the corresponding alcohols. Erbium trifluoromethanesulfonate has been shown to react with mcl-1 protein and inhibit its activity. This inhibition of mcl-1 protein leads to an increased sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapy agents and radiation therapy. The solid catalyst form of erbium trifluoromethanesulfonate is prepared by reacting erbium chloride with sodium carbonate in water. The hydroxyl group on the erbium atom binds to the oxygen atom on the carbon dioxide molecule, forming an ester bond.
