Ethyl N-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)glycinate is a nucleophile that can be synthesized from the perfluorinated tetrafluoropyridine and thiazolopyridine. It has been shown to react with nitrogen nucleophiles, such as ammonia, to form an enolate. Ethyl N-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)glycinate also reacts with oxygen nucleophiles, such as water, to produce a hydroxide ion. The mechanism of this reaction is similar to that of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), which acts as a base and converts the enolate into an alcohol. This compound is used in the synthesis of other compounds, including phenylsulfonyl chlorides.
