Ethyl (R)-2-(Trifluoromethylsulfonyloxy)Propionate is a chiral compound that can be used for synthesis of positron-emitting radiotracers. This material is synthesized by reacting N-Boc-L-cysteine with (R)-(+)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-(trifluoromethylsulfonyloxy)propane in the presence of potassium carbonate and triethylamine. The product can be purified by recrystallization from hot water or acetone. This compound has been investigated as a diagnostic tool for tumor imaging. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
