6-Fluoro-1-[methyl(oxido)-lambdasup>5/sup>-aza] is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the family of quinolones. It inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and preventing the formation of a protein-DNA complex with the enzyme, DNA gyrase. 6-Fluoro-1-[methyl(oxido)-lambdasup>5/sup>-aza] has been shown to be active against enterobacteriaceae, including resistant strains such as Enterobacter cloacae and Enterobacter aerogenes. This drug also has an inhibitory effect on gram-negative bacteria, such as staphylococci and n-oxide producing strains of Proteus mirabilis. 6-Fluoro-1-[methyl(oxido)-lambdasup>5/sup>-aza] is not active against methicillin or ampic
