4-Fluorobiphenyl-4-sulfonyl chloride is an autogenous agent that is used for the treatment of inflammatory conditions of the eye. It has been found to be a potent and selective agonist of adrenergic receptors, when administered topically in a study group of patients with maxillary sinusitis. The drug has been shown to have no significant effect on histological examination, but does show evidence of inflammation, which can be demonstrated by stained sections. 4-Fluorobiphenyl-4-sulfonyl chloride is also an aerosolized drug that is delivered to the nose for the treatment of allergic rhinitis.
