4-Fluoro-DL-phenylalanine is a synthetic amino acid that can be used to study the biological properties of viruses. It has been shown to inhibit viral life by interfering with the synthesis of proteins such as the enzyme activities, nuclear dna, and toll-like receptor. 4-Fluoro-DL-phenylalanine also has diagnostic value in identifying resistant mutants in diploid cells and in determining enzyme activities.
