(S)-1-(2-Fluorophenyl)ethanol is a chemical that belongs to the group of secondary alcohols. It is used as a solvent in some devices, including those used for the cultivation of microorganisms. (S)-1-(2-Fluorophenyl)ethanol has been shown to be effective against some strains of Rhodotorula, but not against Candida parapsilosis. It also has a dehydrogenase activity, which converts ethanol and other alcohols into their corresponding aldehydes and ketones. The conversion of cyclopentanol to cyclohexanol by this enzyme was demonstrated using an assay with rhodococcus.
