4-Formyl-1-methylpyridiniumbenzenesulfonate is an oxidative deamination agent that is used in the synthesis of other life-saving drugs. This compound is a powerful oxidant that can be used to create oxygenated molecules, such as dopamine, and has clinical use for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. 4-Formyl-1-methylpyridiniumbenzenesulfonate has been found to mimic biomolecules by binding with receptors on cells and activating them. It yields a variety of functional groups and also acts as an agonist at these receptors, mimicking the effects of dopamine.
