FR901381 is a novel antifungal agent that belongs to the class of echinocandins. It is active against a wide range of fungi, including Candida albicans and Candida glabrata, as well as Aspergillus fumigatus. This drug has been shown to be effective in vitro against mammalian cells and in vivo in mice. FR901381 is structurally related to echinocandin B but with a different side chain.
