p-Fluorophenyl-2-thienylketone is a biomolecular compound that belongs to the class of aldehydes. It is an organic solvent with a boiling point of 79°C. The x-ray structure analysis revealed that it has a dehydrated form and can be dissolved in chloroform, benzene, and ether. p-Fluorophenyl-2-thienylketone can be used as a nucleophilic reagent for the synthesis of esters from carboxylic acids and alcohols. p-Fluorophenyl-2-thienylketone is also used as an organic solvent for the dehydration of alcohols or phenols. The magnesium salt of this compound is used as an additive in printing inks and dyes, as well as an antiseptic.
