Fluoroacetonitrile is a reactive chemical that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and other organic compounds. It is an anion that reacts with chloride ions to form fluoroacetate. Fluoroacetonitrile has been shown to cause metabolic disorders in rats and mice when used as a solvent or reactant. This chemical also has the ability to activate nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at low concentrations. Fluoroacetonitrile can be synthesized by reacting diphenyl ether with α-fluorine.
