2-Fluoropyridine-4-carbonitrile is a fluorescent molecule that can be used to stain and visualize cellular components. It has been shown to modulate the fluorescence of other molecules, such as NADH and pyruvate, in mitochondria. The fluorescence quantum yield of 2-fluoropyridine-4-carbonitrile is high, making it an excellent candidate for use in microscopy applications. This compound is also nonradiative and does not emit electromagnetic radiation. 2-Fluoropyridine-4-carbonitrile can also be used as a solvent for other molecules with similar fluorescence properties because it doesn't have any of its own fluorescence.
