3-Fluoro-D-phenylalanine is an organic compound that belongs to the group of esters. It can be prepared by refluxing diethyl dioxane with benzyl chloride and optical isomer of phenyl acetic acid. 3-Fluoro-D-phenylalanine is a precursor in the synthesis of peptides, which are important for protein synthesis. The esters are also used in the manufacture of d-amino acids and other compounds. 3-Fluoro-D-phenylalanine can be hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions to give 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid.
