A supramolecular linker is a molecule that connects two or more other molecules. Ferrocenylmethyltrimethylammonium Iodide is a supramolecular linker with a wormlike morphology. It is composed of ferrocene and ethyl bromoacetate, which are linked by an anionic bridge. The spacing between the ferrocenes in the wormlike shape is approximately 2.3 nm, which allows for the formation of nanowires. These wires are composed of ferrocene and ethyl bromoacetate, and they measure 0.5-2 nm in diameter with lengths up to 20 μm.
