Fibronectin-Binding Protein (FBP) is a protein that binds to collagen, fibrinogen, and fibronectin. FBP binds to the amino terminal domain of the fibronectin molecule, which is composed of two domains. The binding affinity between FBP and these molecules is dependent on the conformational properties of the domain. However, it has been shown that FBP also binds to carcinoma cell lines and wild-type strains of S. aureus. Fibronectin-Binding Protein has been shown to be involved in infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and sepsis by binding to bacteria or blood cells.
