2-Fluorobenzanilide is a fluorinated derivative of benzanilide and has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme, dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase. This enzyme is involved in the metabolism of a number of drugs, including the analgesic, acetaminophen. 2-Fluorobenzanilide is metabolized through elimination reactions with a half-life of about 2 hours. The elimination reactions are followed by amide bond formation with a molecular weight that is lower than that of the parent compound. Crystals have been obtained by using dichloromethane as solvent and heat treatment at 120°C for 24 hours. The crystal structure analyses revealed conformational changes in both the amide and dihedral angles which are related to molecular interactions between fluorine atoms and hydrogen bonds. It was also observed that there were two isomers present in the crystal structure analyses, which were identified as anti-2-fluorobenzan
