Descrizione

2-Fluoroethyl-Nitrosourea (2FEN) is a nitrosourea that has been used in the treatment of mammary carcinomas. It acts by inhibiting DNA synthesis and thus causing the death of cancer cells. 2FEN inhibits methylnitrosourea (MNU) induced mutagenicity in Chinese hamster cells, as well as MNU induced chromosome aberrations and micronuclei in f344 rats. The mechanism of this drug is not yet known. It has been shown to inhibit the reaction between MNU and DNA, leading to a decrease in the amount of adducts formed and thus a decrease in mutagenicity.
