3-Fluoro-alpha-fluoromethyltyrosine is a fluorinated tyrosine analog that is used in the study of brain function. It is taken up by the brain and concentrated in specific areas, such as the striatum. 3-Fluoro-alpha-fluoromethyltyrosine has been shown to increase dopamine levels in the rat striatum, which may be due to its inhibition of catecholamine hydroxylase and decarboxylase activities. This drug has also been shown to have a dose-dependent effect on bladder function in rats. 3-Fluoro-alpha-fluoromethyltyrosine has not been tested on humans, but it can be expected that it would have similar effects on the human brain and bladder.
