This compound also inhibits microbial metabolism by blocking the enzyme system that converts amino acids into glucose. 4-Fluoronitrobenzene has been shown to have bacteriostatic activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli, but not against Gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebs
