2-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1,3-Dioxo-5-Isoindolinecarboxylic Acid is a prodrug that is metabolized by the liver to its active form, 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methylpropanoic acid (FPMP). FPMP inhibits the growth of tumor cells by binding to the receptor activity of DNA. This drug has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and has been used in experimental cancer therapy. The medication is well tolerated with few side effects reported. It also has an acidic pH of 3.5 and can be activated by stomach acid.
