Descrizione:Glyceryl caprylate is a glycol ether that has been used as a preservative and antimicrobial agent. Glyceryl caprylate is an effective antimicrobial agent against bacteria and fungi in vitro, but not against viruses. It is used to prevent the growth of microorganisms in ointments, creams, and lotions. Glyceryl caprylate has also been shown to inhibit the development of infectious diseases by altering the chemical matrix at the surface of the skin or in tissues. The basic structure of glyceryl caprylate can be modified with hydroxyl groups to create new derivatives that are more active than glyceryl caprylate. These derivatives may be useful for preventing inflammatory bowel disease or as fluorescence probes for detecting bacterial DNA in body fluids or cells.
