Gibberellin A5 methyl ester is a plant growth regulator that belongs to the group of diacids. It has been shown to be effective for the control of filamentous fungi such as Trichoderma, Fusarium, and Aspergillus. Gibberellin A5 methyl ester inhibits the production of trimethyl chloride and resuspended epoxides by inhibiting the enzyme dihydroflavonol-4-reductase. This inhibition causes a decrease in the synthesis of phenolic compounds, which are required for cell wall synthesis and cell division. The effective dose is 100 ppm when applied to plants. Gibberellin A5 methyl ester can also be isolated from Temulentum temulentum (soybean) and Thionyl acetate extract (Datura).
