Glycolamide is a glycol ether with the molecular formula CH2OCH2COOH. It is used as an emollient in cosmetics and personal care products. Glycolamide has shown inhibitory properties in vitro against some enzymes, including aminopeptidase, carboxypeptidase A, and carboxypeptidase B. Glycolamide has been shown to produce synergic effects when combined with other agents such as sodium salts, which have antiinflammatory activity. Glycolamide is not toxic in vivo, as it does not affect the weight of rats.
