Informazioni sul prodotto
- Mono(Ethylhexyl)Terephthalate
- 4-{[(2-Ethylhexyl)Oxy]Carbonyl}Benzoic Acid
Mono(2-ethylhexyl) Terephthalate (MEHT) is a monomer that is used to produce polymers such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET). MEHT is metabolized in the human body and the metabolites can be detected in urine. MEHT can be analyzed using gas chromatography with 4,4-dimethyl-4-silapentane-1,3-dione as an internal standard. This analytical method has been validated and shown to have a high detection limit of 0.5 ng/mL for MEHT metabolites in human urine samples.
MEHT can be used as a biomarker for occupational exposure to PET dyes, which are often carcinogenic. The frequency of MEHT use has been shown to be higher among workers with occupational exposure than among those without it.
