2-Hydroxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is a chemical that has been shown to be carcinogenic in rats. This chemical inhibits collagen synthesis and causes photophysical changes. It also has been shown to cause renal proximal tubule injury in rats, which may be due to its ability to conjugate with 3-mercaptopropionic acid. 2-Hydroxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is not regulated by the EPA because it is a pesticide, and it is not found in food chemistry.
