2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)acetohydrazide is an experimental antitumor agent that belongs to the group of hydrazides. It has shown antitumor activity in animal models, but its mechanism of action remains unclear. 2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)acetohydrazide has been shown to inhibit the growth of Myelogenous leukemia cells in vitro and in vivo. It is a ligand for benzodiazepine receptors and may act by binding to these receptors and inhibiting cell proliferation.
