1-Hydroxy-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a molecule that contains a carbonyl group. It can be used as a ligand in coordination chemistry and has been shown to bind to the active site of plasma glucose oxidase. This compound is an isomer of 2,4-dihydroxypyrimidine and 2,4,5,6-tetrahydroxypyrimidine. The theory of this substance is based on functional groups and thermodynamics.
