3-Hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde is a cytotoxic molecule that can be used as a prodrug to produce stilbene derivatives. 3-Hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde has been shown to have antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo. It is water soluble and has been investigated for its biological properties, cytotoxic activity, and solubility. This molecule has also been shown to have tumor cell growth inhibition, which is due to the ability of the compound to inhibit amino acid uptake into cells. 3-Hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde is found in many plants and fruits such as grapes, coffee beans, and tomatoes.
